Conventions analysis of a magazine front cover

       In this college magazine the main colour is red. This could represent how passionate the student is about her college. Her smile shows that the college has a positive environment and that students are happy.
       Conventions are something you expect and are predictable, for example the date on the magazine. Also you would automatically expect to see a bar code, sell lines, mast head and a main image. Magazines have sell lines as it tells the buyers what is featured in the magazine, it also briefly mentions key words to make you want to buy it.                      
        

         The target audience is aimed at students as it updates them about their college. The customers immediately see the word 'college' so this draws them in as they can relate to the magazine.

The Brief

Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus appropriately laid-out text and masthead. Additionally you must produce a mock- up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of DTP.

Main task: the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text must be original, produced by you- minimum of four images.
